The air quality in the US is at its highest level in a decade, according to a new report released by the American Lung Association
(ALA) Wednesday. The nonprofit organization credits the trend to
tougher environmental standards set for smog and soot in the air. We’re making real and steady progress in cutting dangerous pollution from the air we breathe
Less people driving to work because of less factories and jobs, families not driving as much because of the price of gas, cigarette smoking has been, for all intensive purposes, declared illegal, tougher environmental standards together with the lowering of our standard of living, yup, be careful what you wish for it may come true. You too will be sitting in a cold and dim lit room being controlled by the newly installed 'smart meters' in your community. You are still permitted to leave your room and venture outside to breath the fresh air while your bring your mandatory recycled material to the curb.
I think I liked it better when I could smell the leather industry down town or the farm across the street in the spring. I liked it when you could go to the dock and smell those diesel fuel boats filled with the day's catch. Progress is progress, I guess some of it is good. Smell all that fresh air.
