Paying more and Getting Less

      The MBTA, in the red for years, is planning a new strategy to pay the bills and pensions.  Communities are seeing service, like trains during the weekend, cut while fairs continue to go up.  Unsustainable would be the word that comes to mind.

 Facing a major budget deficit, state transportation officials last month unveiled a plan that would raise subway fares by up to 70 cents and dramatically cull bus routes, eliminate ferries, and end weekend commuter rail trains.
