Endangered Mexican gray wolf may get new help

Let me just say that I love animals, cats are my particular favorite.  But this wolf story floored me because we have not even been able to deal with the illegal human problem and we are already taking charge of saving the Mexican gray wolf.  Isn't this a problem for Mexico?  Whats next for us to save, the Australian kangaroo or the African monkey?  Even if we ever do get our boarders secure, this wolf is capable of digging under any type of wall of fence.  And as far as the housing goes, many of our zoos are closing because of lost revenue.  I am sorry, I can not accommodate this Mexican wolf in my neighborhood, my resident American born groundhogs, chipmunks, squirrels, and bunnies are more then I can manage to support as it is!  I must spend over $300.00 alone in birdseed yearly.

The difference is significant under the Endangered Species Act. The government would be required to create a recovery plan specifically for the Mexican wolf and set measurable goals for the species' recovery that would extend protection beyond what wolves elsewhere receive.
No such plan is in place, even as the wolves' numbers dwindle.
"This is clearly a step forward for the Mexican wolf," said Nicole Rosmarino, wildlife program director for the advocacy group WildEarth Guardians. "The wolves face real, significant threats and they need heightened protection."
The wildlife service announced its review of the wolf's status as part of a settlement with WildEarth Guardians, the Center for Biological Diversity and the Rewilding Institute, three conservation groups that petitioned the agency to reclassify the Mexican wolf.

Hmm, has anyone seen those bunnies lately???

  1. I am a conservative through and through until it comes to nature. I was raised in the mountains of New Mexico and taught by my "Tea Party" attending parents to love and respect nature. We would probably see eye to eye on most issue except this one. The beautiful creatures will not survive without help. Humans killed and poisoned these animals and now it is time to save them.If you have ever heard a wolf howl in the wild it might change your mind and soul.

  2. I am a conservative through and through until it comes to good old Mother Nature. I grew up in the mountains of New Mexico, and was taught by my Tea Party attending parents to love and respect nature. I feel closer to God when I am in the mountains. You and I would probably see eye to eye on most issues, but not this one. I don't see any other way to save these magnificent creatures than through help from the government (scary for me to even type that). If you ever heard a wolf howl in the wild it might change your mind and touch your soul.

  3. Nancy,

I think you might have misunderstood my intentions on the Mexican gray wolf story. We have problems in the north east with the black bear because of the decimation of the land they once roamed. I love all animals in their place and hope they will all have their place. This post was meant to be in jest.
