$5.00 fee to visit the RMV in Massachusetts

We in Massachusetts already pay a yearly excise tax on our vehicles and a licensing fee. Some of these taxes were said to only be temporary when enacted. Now to just walk in the front door of the registry, you will get a backdoor fee for.... standing in line................

  1. I'd move to a state that still allows its citizens to be free.

    This is ridiculous.

  3. Lady Di, unfortunately, I don't know of any that are better. Tax-wise, Missouri is much better. And, we're "shall issue" for CCW.

I've been having e-mail exchanges with my local state rep. He's responsive and a 'pub. Just needs a bit of "guidance" from time-to-time.

  4. Ridiculous. I live in MA (though am giving very serious thought to leaving), and this is just one more thing that makes living elsewhere look far more attractive.

  5. Yes Fuzzy, owning a business, keeping people employed, and putting food on my table has been the main focus for the past 30 years. I can tell you that my dollars going to the registry have been decreasing due to the selling off of vehicles and down sizing (again) in light of the recession/depression..

  6. $5 to walk in the door of a DMV?

They'd better have a good band playing, and the beer had better be cold!
