Tensions ran high last week in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn, where Hasidic community leaders pressured the Department of Transportation to remove bike lanes on Bedford Avenue. Cycling activists who opposed the decision held a mock funeral for the bike lanes on Sunday. "An injury to one bike lane is an injury to all bike lanes," Ben Shepard, event organizer told the New York Post.
