Federal shutdown would have local fallout

Oh well, I am for everyone working and leading a productive life.  I am also for less and smaller government.  How come all these scary facts of the government closing were not brought to light six months ago when a budget should have been in place?

On what is forecast to be a sunny, warm weekend in Massachusetts, national parks like the New Bedford Whaling park, the Cape Cod National Seashore, and the Boston African American National Historic Site would be closed and secured in the event of a shutdown, a U.S. Department of the Interior spokeswoman said.

Was there not life before the government invented the national park service?  Families will have plenty to keep themselves busy as we in the north east have been shuttered in our homes during of the cold and snowy weather.  Turn some of these park and recreational (seasonal) facilities over to privately run companies.  Stop the 'chicken little' cry like when the animals in the zoos were to be killed for lack of funding!!!!     We simple need to start cutting back on spending, and like private industry these past three years, government is also going to layoff and downsize....
