Jobless Claims Surge 51K

New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits rose more than expected last week as harsh weather conditions in some parts of the country kept workers at home and caused a backlog in the rocessing of claims, a government report showed on Thursday.

Soon many public employees will be out of a job and in line with those in the private sector.

  1. Blaming winter weather for (yet another in a chain of) jobless surges means that as soon as the weather clears, we should see that trend reversed. Does anybody want to make a bet with me?

There is a bottom somewhere in this morass that we find ourselves in, but trust me - we haven't found it yet.
