Religious Freedom

I am going back a bit............I can remember being granted early dismissal from the school day once a week to attend CCD classes along with classmates from other religions in my school who also had early release. Come to think of it, back then we could also walk the sidewalks by ourselves without traveling in packs or with a cell phone to confirm we got to our intended destination safely. It was not a crime and no objections were heard to celebrating Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day with your friends in class along with the everyday learning, including but not limited to, reading, writing, and arithmetic classes.
Religious freedom today has the emphasis on 'which religion' will the politician rally around to get the votes he or she needs until they have to rally again in another four or six years.   As far as the Mosque being built close to ground zero, I think they could pick another location to build and maybe look at the safety issue of children walking the sidewalks.
