SNOW JOB ON THE SECOND DAY OF SUMMER

Mass Department of Transportation considering more in-house snow plowing
BOSTON (AP) -- Transportation officials are examining how much money Massachusetts might save if they have state employees do more highway snow removal instead of the current patchwork of private contractors.

Now, I have been around for a while and never have I seen any savings when the private sector has been kicked off the job and replaced by government workers.  To begin with, you will be dealing with union rules and regulations which will include overtime, pensions, and strikes.  This is a bad idea in a time when we are to be creating jobs for the private sector who pay the wages of the government employee...  Who will buy, insure, and maintain these vehicles.....year round?
