The Race Card?

Officer in Henry Gates flap tried to save Reggie Lewis Is this police officer a racist? I believe these officers were just responding to a breaking and entering call. I suppose we will hear more than we want to as certain people will run with this story and play the race card for weeks to come. Shared via AddThis

  1. We will hear about this story so the president can quietly, and behind the scenes, push to get his health plan passed. Isn't it ironic that only the blacks ever cry the 'race' card? Maybe that happens because most of the crimes, at least the ones we see on the news, are committed by them?

  2. It's sad that the President of the United States has played the race card. He is now the equivalent of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

  3. Although I don't know whether or not Sgt. Crowley is a racist, I think it's a weak argument to say that he isn't one because he tried to save Reggie Lewis. After all, Reggie died over 15 years ago and people's attitudes can change (for better or worse) over a period of time.

For anyone who thinks that only blacks play the race card, I have to wonder if they actually live in the U.S. All one has to do is listen to the Sonia Sotomayor detractors to see that playing the race card isn't done solely by blacks.

As for the feelings by some that President Obama played the race card, I'd like for them to explain why they say he did. He never said that the incident involving Professor Gates and the police was race-related. He did mention the sad reality of racial profiling. However, that's not playing the race card, that's telling the truth.
