China's economy grew 9.6% last year

China's economy grew by 9.6 percent, 0.6 percentage points more than earlier estimates, in 2008, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Friday after discovering that the service sector had played a greater role than thought earlier.

China: Just how old is this civilization and what have they accomplished?  The best way to serve the planet is to educate the people and the rest will happen.

America  is creating a country of poor people. There was a time when you wouldn't think of purchasing anything stamped Made In China and now you have lost the luxury to choose otherwise.  Would you pay more for something if it said Made in the USA?  Some feel we have to lower our standards to compete with poorer countries and I say raise everyone's standard of living by education and jobs.... not by handouts.  We have already run out of money and we are running out of time!

  1. If China continues its current rate of economic growth, I see only good things for the U.S.

Once its population climbs out of poverty as a whole, they will discover that communism is not going to cut it in the long run, and choose to do something about it, and we will have a trading partner and ally going forward, not an enemy.

The current tyrants in power in China are a problem in the short term, however.

  2. Fredd, I agree with you in theory... I just do not see our civilization surviving the test...

  3. I suppose as China continues its positive economic growth and increasing productivity it will gradually raise the standard of living and naturally wages.

In the long haul this will tend to level the playing field with respect to trade.

However I believe we will run out of time before this happens, so lady di I must agree with you.
